ZUHD matches DNS requests locally on your device against versioned category lists (e.g. known adult domains). If a domain matches, it is never resolved – the page simply doesn't load. The matching happens entirely on the device; no visited domains are logged.

No. ZUHD does not decrypt HTTPS connections, install a certificate, or read encrypted web traffic or page content. Its domain filter checks DNS requests only. Separately, the optional Android Accessibility service may check visible address bars in supported browsers locally. Submitted search parameters and minimum signals from supported short-video areas are each evaluated only after their own affirmative consent; HTTPS page content is not decrypted. Those signals stay in memory and are discarded immediately; they are not stored or transmitted.

No. There is no browser history, no list of visited domains, no full URLs, and no timestamps for individual visits. Statistics are strictly aggregated counters, e.g. "42 requests blocked today" – without storing which ones.

Yes, after separate versioned affirmative consent. In supported Chrome/Firefox variants, ZUHD checks only exact provider domains and result routes: Google/Bing/Brave/Ecosia with /search and q; DuckDuckGo with /, /html, or /lite and q; Startpage with /sp/search or /do/search and query; Qwant with /, /search, or /web/search and q; Yahoo with /search and p; YouTube with /results and search_query. It does not read keystrokes, search suggestions, or page content. The search text, full URL, and history are neither stored nor transmitted; an unknown provider or parameter fails open. While saving, you may choose “Save base rule only”, which keeps query checking off. Starting Focus with a keyword remains stopped without consent. You can withdraw consent immediately at any time under Privacy & data > Permissions.

You need an account to use the app. ZUHD uses it to manage your trial, subscription status, and progress. Screen time, focus profiles, and your app and website rules stay on your device.

Your account backs up content-free core progress such as XP receipts, levels, badges, attributes, and required aggregates. From age 18, you can also enable the optional Side Quest backup yourself; it remains unavailable to ages 13–17. If you turn that backup off again, ZUHD deletes the online Side Quest copies. The local Side Quests on your phone remain.

Sign in on the new phone with the same account. Content-free core progress such as XP, levels, and badges is restored. Side Quests return only for an age-eligible account from age 18 and if their optional backup was enabled before. Screen time, focus profiles, and app and website rules stay on the old device and are not transferred.

Yes. When you enable the Social media category, ZUHD blocks the selected social apps in full and blocks their related websites. This is separate from the Short videos category. Android still does not allow a guaranteed, unbypassable hard block; ZUHD adds visible, self-chosen friction and explains platform limits honestly.

Yes, with clear limits: pure short-video apps and sites such as TikTok, Kwai, or Likee are blocked in full. In supported mixed-purpose apps, ZUHD makes a best-effort attempt to detect only YouTube Shorts, Instagram/Facebook Reels, and Snapchat Spotlight; normal videos, feeds, profiles, messages, camera, and other areas remain usable. Detection is local and temporary after affirmative consent, performs no gestures, and fails open for unknown app versions, languages, or UI states. You can withdraw the separate consent at any time under Privacy & data > Permissions. App updates may change coverage. If Social media or Entertainment is also enabled, the full-app block takes priority.

ZUHD uses the Android VPN interface strictly on-device to filter DNS requests. There is no external ZUHD server, your traffic never leaves the device toward ZUHD, and your location is never changed. It is not a conventional VPN service.

No – and we deliberately don't promise that. Apps with their own encrypted DNS (DoH/DoT, "Private DNS"), hardcoded IP addresses, ECH, or certain QUIC connections can bypass the filter. Aggressive battery optimization on some device brands can also stop background services. ZUHD shows you the real protection status, honestly.

You decide whether protection should automatically resume after a restart. For transparency reasons, Android may require you to reconfirm the VPN connection. ZUHD always shows you whether protection is currently active.

Quick Block activates instant protection for a chosen duration with a single tap – ideal when you want to shield yourself spontaneously. You pick categories and a time window without first setting up a full profile.

Strict protection makes it harder to turn things off early through Cooldown or a specific Hardcore approval from your trusted contact. If they remain unavailable, Support may, after review, disable Hardcore only; you must then start the desired change again yourself. The separate emergency shutdown is available unless you have disabled local emergency unlock. The first successful use in each calendar month skips the wait; later uses require ten minutes. The other confirmations still apply. You do not have to set up a new device lock. If local emergency unlock is disabled, the Support route remains. This is deliberate friction, not a tamper-proof hard block.

Yes. After signing in, you can try the features available for your age band for 3 days with no ads. After that, Home with Side Quests and Focus remain free, with up to 3 focus profiles and 3 active time windows. Premium unlocks the Protection, Progress, and advanced Focus features available for your age band. A paid Premium subscription also gives 1.5× regular XP rewards for to-dos, focus sessions and scheduled profiles. This bonus does not apply during the free trial and does not change attribute points. Free may include ads.

ZUHD supports Android 8.0 (API level 26) and later and relies on official system APIs such as the VPN interface and usage access. iOS is not currently supported due to platform restrictions on local filtering.

ZUHD makes consistency visible: real actions – completed focus sessions, completed Side Quests, and consistent routines – earn you XP, raise your level (1 to 50), and unlock seven ranks, from Aspirant to Path Master. Six attributes (Focus, Discipline, Consistency, Physical, Distraction Resistance, and Spirit) show where you're strong. Your personal progress comes first. Together is optional: Friends and Global are limited leaderboards for eligible signed-in users, subject to age and visibility rules. There is no open popularity feed.

Public Community posts and replies remain in their original language by default. Only after you tap “Translate with Google” does Google ML Kit create a transient on-device display translation. This feature is powered by Google Translate. According to Google, input and output text is not sent to Google; the SDK may still download language models and transmit diagnostics and utilization metadata.
